Grow sponges are soilless growing mediums that ensure seeds have just the right environment for germinating, providing them with adequate amounts of oxygen and water to cause them to sprout. Technically, plants can grow in sponges as long as the sponge is kept wet. Using grow sponges offers several advantages: it makes it easier to monitor germination and root development, simplifies transplanting seedlings with no mess involved, allows for the germination of a large number of seeds in a small space, and the sponges are typically reusable when seeds do not germinate. Additionally, seeds germinate very quickly and with little to no effort on your part.

To use a grow sponge, first soak it in water for 10-15 minutes until it expands to a size compatible with your growing system. Then, insert the seeds into the tiny divots in the sponge and place them in a tray or basket. Position the baskets in your system to keep the sponges moist by regularly adding water to the tray.
